Christmas Album Closer

by gtwehman on October 21, 2019

Well it’s been a few weeks since I’ve last posted any news – well the good news is that my Christmas album project is nearing its release.

The recording is done and “in the can” as the expression goes, the artwork is all but finished and the final mix and mastering is all that is left before it goes to the presses.

This project has been a labor of love – digging out the original disk from 30 years ago, finding the right studio and getting it to completion.

Here’s the inside “neat” story of the project:

30 years ago, while I was selling pianos – I had sold many disklavier pianos by Yamaha. Each year I made a disc and duplicated that disc to send out to my customers. End of story, right? Well in my moves and thinking back to what was missing, my mind thought of the discs that I made. I called my daughter in Ohio – and after some digging she found a disc that I had given my wife. Pam, my wife tucked it away and my daughter found it and sent it to me. Unbelievable that after 30 years it was found. Here’s the really cool part, I started digging across the country to find a studio that would have a disklavier in one of their rooms. I found one. In the many calls and letters, the disc was sent and It Played!”. Guy Randle, the owner and chief engineer of Rosewood Recording Studios brought back to life “ME” playing the piano 30 years ago.

The album project, “Christmas Remembered” represents me playing the Christmas carols on the piano and now preserved again on CD. AND – there was an original song that I played “In The Manger” that is on the CD too.

There will be more – thanks for reading and going on the trail – stay tuned!
